This was written to tie in with another fic that has not been published.
Videl took a deep breath of the garlic and onions that filled the air as she and her best friend Erasa had just finished chopping them with a knife. While she had been there for a while, Erasa was baffled but cheerful when she showed up at the front door asking to stay. Dinner was nearly finished, and they were waiting for the boys Gohan Son and Sharpner Pencil to show up. They thought it would be fun to cook and invite the boys over since Erasa’s mom was on a date and probably won’t return until the morning.
It was a different normal than she was used to. Still, she needed to get out of her papa’s house after discovering the truth because her dad terrified her since he so easily lied to her for what felt like most of her life. He let her live out a lie and stole the honor of saving the world during the Cell Games, then insulted the true hero did not sit well with her. Especially when that hero was her classmate and the person who taught her to fly Gohan, the same Gohan who was coming for dinner. The technique of flying and ki was the same things her father called tricks, which was bullshit since she could do them. It felt wicked to her.
Erasa and her set everything up quickly, then ran upstairs to get dressed fast. Coming down, Erasa was in her regular fashionable clothing, only she added some cute springy butterfly clips. However, Erasa had her in something different than what she would wear, a red shirt with a white cami over it and a knee-length black skirt. Now, she would never admit it out loud so as not to encourage her friend, but the skirt showed off her toned legs, and she didn’t hate it.
Soon, there was knocking at the door, and there stood the tall blond Sharpner, who was still glistening from his daily workout, and the dark-haired sweet Gohan, who didn’t look like he broke a sweat. Which Videl knew that he didn’t. She had been looking forward to this while Erasa teased her about this being a double date. Even though she wasn’t dating Gohan, nor was Erasa dating Sharpner. Only she did want to be with Gohan, and Erasa was just friends with Sharpner.
“Who are you dressed up for?” Sharpner asked.
She, of course, mocked him as he walked into the room before promptly kicking him in the ass, forgetting that she had been wearing a skirt.
“Hey! What was that?” Sharpner reacted.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” she deadpanned.
“Sharpy, Gohan, you are here!” Erasa greeted.
“Thank you both for inviting us,” Gohan replied politely.
“Right, I’m ready to eat. You know how I like to work up a sweat,” Sharpner said.
The four of them made their way to the table, and the food was served. While Videl couldn’t help but think next time she was sitting across from Gohan eating at night, she hoped it would be a date.
