Summary: Marinette comes across something she was never suppose to hear.
Author Note: Written for ML’s Random Plot Generator Challenge. The theme was to use plot from a site, the one I received was your character sees something s/he wasn’t meant to see. Originally posted on ML on June 18, 2023. I did label it salt and bashing however it’s not bashing if it is if it’s in character.
Marinette couldn’t believe that she had forgotten her backpack at her school Françoise Dupont again, and considering her tardiness and her role as Ladybug, she didn’t need another excuse for the school to be on her. Luckily for her, the school was only a short walk away from her home and her parent’s bakery, so getting to the school wasn’t too much work. She hated that she had already started to relax when she realized she didn’t have her homework with her. Thankfully for her, there shouldn’t be anyone there to question her absence-mindedness when she went to the locker room. Only she assumed that everyone else would be home since there hadn’t been any other time she had left something at the school and needed to run back. Since that clearly wasn’t the case this time.
The sound of two voices, one more familiar than the last, echoed through the halls, but neither one of them had been distinct enough to make out. As soon as she was outside the locker room, she recognized one voice as the liar Lila Rossi; the other voice was still a mystery. Both of them were in the places she needed to be, so she had nothing to do but wait.
“When will I get paid?” The male voice grunts.
“When the job is done,” Lila responded with indifference.
“That wasn’t what we agreed on when you posted the job,” the male scorned.
“You will if you want the money and for me not to show everyone what I found,” Lila laughed.
That is when Marinette slowly and quickly cracked the door to see the exchange.
Lila showed the early 20’s male who had brown hair a photo, and he looked enraged, but he quickly ripped it up.
“That’s cute that you think this is my only copy,” Lila smirked.
“I’m going to need something to get rid of your classmate,” the man replied.
“This what you will get,” she handed him more photos and what looked like a folded map. “A picture of your target Marinette Dupain-Cheng, her family, Tom, and Sabine Dupain-Cheng, and a map of her out and where her room is.”
“Do you want her family gone too, because that will be extra,” the criminal asked as Marinette’s heart dropped.
“No, but don’t hesitate if they are in the way and can identify you,” Lila shrugged, showing how little she cared about the human life around her.
“When do you want this done?”
After placing her phone on silent, Marinette carefully pulled out her camera to record them and get a picture of the guy’s face.
“Soon, I want Marinette gone within a week; I don’t care how you do it either. It can be as clean or bloody as you would like, but the sooner, the better; if you can have her death tomorrow, that would be ideal.” Lila explained.
“Fine, you have my Bitcoin account; I’ll drop proof off at your account when the job is finished,” the man started to leave.
Keeping the phone rolling, Marinette quickly found a corner to hide in. Waiting until both of them had enough time to leave the building until she grabbed her backpack. Not wanting to take any chances, she decided to transform into Ladybug.
“Spots on.”
It was a race against time; she needed a plan and to show her parents the video.
