This was written to tie in with another fic that has not been published.
It was a new day for the people of Earth; they had been brought back to life by the dragon balls of New Namek. However, most of them had gone on like it was any other day, not knowing the truth about Buu. It was not the same for Videl Satan, her life had been irrevocably flipped upside down, but she won’t want to go back to not knowing. Especially if that meant she wouldn’t have this bond with Gohan anymore. She wasn’t sure what they were; she was only sure she didn’t think she could be without him.
The following days were similar to the first day after Buu, and the people of Satan City went on like they didn’t just die and come back to life. They started the same, with the same crimes, criminals, and corruption. The only things that seemed to change were her, the growing affection between the half Saiyan and her, the ever-increasing resentment between her dad and her, living with Erasa, and her friendships.
The distance grew between Videl and her papa as time passed, but other relationships flourished; it was like he had been a bad seed, and once plucked from her life, better roots took its place. Even her friendships with Sharpner and Erasa improved. Her estrangement from her dad was never meant to be permanent, but her life had been better without him in it. She never realized what a force he had been, or a wrecking ball for a better term. Her no contact didn’t stop him from trying to hurt her and bulldoze his way into her life and damage it, though.
Today after another blow from Hercule, Videl decided to stand firm because no matter what he or anyone else threw at her, she wouldn’t give up and wouldn’t be corrupt like her dad. Tomorrow would be a new day and things would be better.
